Karin Wersäll Forsberg is a registered physiotherapist, operating in Stockholm where she works at the corporate health service chain Feelgood AB. During the spring of 2007, Karin Wersäll Forsberg completed her course in orthopaedic manual therapy (40 points) at Karolinska Institutet.
Her Master’s thesis reported on an examination on the treatment results of Vibrosphere® for 29 patients with neck pain. The supervisors were Catharina Bexander, registered physiotherapist with a Master’s in physiotherapy, Hälsans Hus and Inga Arvidsson, registered physiotherapist and associate professor at Karolinska Institutet.
All in the vibration group stated a decrease in pain on the VAS. After treatment, the mean value decreased from 56,5 to 25,5 in the vibration group and increased from 39 to 46 in the control group. The ability to balance was enhanced for fifteen persons in the experimental group with 0,7 to 16,4 seconds. In the control group three of seven had enhanced their ability to balance with 1 to 4 seconds.
- The study was positive; all patients received pain relief, some permanent. All reported the feeling of satisfaction of the treatment with Vibrosphere®. I see the method as a good complement to other treatment of patients with neck pains, which apply to pain, balance and proprioception, Karin Wersäll Forsberg sums up.
